TRITON® Marine Mattresses
Product Description
The Triton Marine Mattress System, by Tensar International Corporation, is designed for demanding conditions associated with erosion control armoring and submerged foundation projects. The system’s effectiveness results from key features, including monolithic high mass and porosity, flexibility and hydraulic stability, durability and long-term tensile capacity of Tensar® Geogrids, energy dissipation characteristics, and sensitivity to wave run-up or reflection.
For sediment treatment applications, the Triton Marine Mattress System is used in conjunction with CETCO's Reactive Core Mat®, a mat designed to sequester and treat contaminants within the sediment. The mattress is constructed of an advanced geogrid designed to be integrated with available fill and is used to simplify construction and provide protection in highly erosive conditions.
Applications
- Triton Marine Mattress System Configured with Reactive Core Mat®
Reactive Core Mat (RCM) can be used in conjunction with a traditional rock-filled Triton Marine Mattress. The RCM is placed below the rock-filled marine mattress and affixed with metal fasteners.
- Non-Active Triton Marine Mattress Systems
The traditional rock-filled Triton Marine Mattress can be used for armoring sediment caps and active treatment layers.
- Reactive Filled Triton Marine Mattress System
Triton Marine Mattress can be lined with custom fitted geotextile fabric and filled with bulk active capping materials, such as CETCO Organoclays®.
Features and Benefits
- Allows RCM to be deployed in high fl ow current and/or deep waterways
- Polypropylene (PP) or copolymer geogrid provides resistance to biological, chemical and salt water degradation
- Geosynthetic reinforcement offers resistance to differential settlement and erosion forces
- Conforms to sediment contours better than alternative rigid systems
- Geosynthetic reinforcement offers resistance to differential settlement and erosion forces
- Allows up to 6" thick layer of Organoclay®
- Can combine 3" thick layer of Organoclay overlain with 3" thick rock layer
- Allows accurate deployment of bulk Organoclay in high flow current and/or deep waterways
- Geosynthetic reinforcement offers resistance to differential settlement and erosion forces
